Readings for 4/12

Hi guys. For my presentation tomorrow we will be talking about poetry as a form of protest, in both a historical and contemporary context.

This is poem written in 1934 that deals with issues of Civil Rights:

Countee Cullen’s “Scotsboro, Too, Is Worth Its Song (A poem to American poets)”

And this is a poem written by a 13-year-old survivor of the recent genocide in Darfur:

Emtithal Mahmoud’s “What Would You Do?”
